There are stories we tell the world… and then there are the untold chapters. This is one of mine, a story about backyard garden hope.

Good afternoon, my fellow readers. Today was another amazing day, and I had one of those small moments that reminded me how powerful hope really is.

So I went outside to check on my plants. Y’all know how Michigan weather can be it goes up and down. One day it’s nice and warm, and the next day it’s cold again. But I had been praying and asking God to let me see something… just a little sign that my garden was growing.

I kept saying, “Lord, I need to see something booming. I need to see some type of growth.”

And guess what?

My peas are growing!

I planted them only about a week ago, but when I looked closely today, I saw them pushing through the soil. When I tell y’all my heart lit up, it really did. It might seem small to some people, but to me it was a reminder that when you plant something with faith, it eventually begins to grow.

Right now I have 18 plants out there, and I’m planning to add even more. I still need to plant my collard greens, and next week I’m getting more wood chips to finish the garden area.

Step by step, everything is coming together.

And let me tell you about my flowers too. I planted seven different flowers, including my sunflowers. Last year the squirrels ate my sunflowers, and I was so upset. But this year I’m planting even more some in pots and some in another area of the garden.

This time I’m ready.

Me and Avery even had to cover some plants with bags for now because the squirrels and cats keep trying to get into them. Until we build a small gate around the garden, we’re protecting them however we can.

Standing there looking at those little green leaves gave me so much backyard garden hope. It reminded me that soon we will be harvesting our own vegetables and eating food that came straight from our backyard.

That’s a blessing.

A Walk, Good Food, and Family Time

Later in the day, Avery and I decided to take a walk to get the kids some food. Y’all know I like staying active, so the walk felt good.

We went to
Great Lakes Fish and Chicken

And let me tell y’all… that chicken was crispy and good. We ordered a 15-piece wing dinner and it tasted better than KFC and even Popeyes to me.

But the real surprise was the Oreo cheesecake. When I say it melted in your mouth, I mean it literally melted.

After we got back home, we spent a little time in the garden again. Then I took a bike stroll around the corner with my daughter and another stroll with my son.

By the second ride, my legs were definitely feeling it but that’s good exercise!

Corner Yard Food Is Coming Back

Now we’re inside and Avery is getting ready to make his famous creamy cheese dip for dinner.

Soon we’ll be opening our outdoor food spot again called Corner Yard Food. Last year we started a little late, but we still made some good money. This year we’re planning ahead and setting bigger goals.

One sandwich y’all don’t want to miss is the Ringer Bringer. It’s a steak sandwich with onion rings, lettuce, tomatoes, and Avery’s homemade sauces.

Trust me it’s amazing.

So stay tuned, because Corner Yard Food will be opening soon.

What This Backyard Garden Taught Me

Seeing my peas grow reminded me that life works the same way as a garden.

You plant seeds.
You water them with faith
You protect them from what tries to destroy them.

And eventually… growth happens.

Sometimes the growth is small at first, but it’s still proof that God is working behind the scenes.

📖 Bible Verse

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

🌿 Motivation Quote

“Growth may start small, but every seed of faith you plant today becomes tomorrow’s harvest.”

My story isn’t perfect, but it’s real and I’m still standing, still growing, and still becoming.
